La Cantera Ranch Resort located in Valley View, Texas, just a mile from Lake Ray Roberts and 1 hr from DFW airport is opening it’s doors to you in the Spring 2009 for your next entertainment plans. La Cantera offers a wide array of amenities for your next corporate event, photography sessions for weddings or senior pictures, training sessions, family reunions, boy scout/girl scouts, outdoor parties or any event you want to remember.
As you drive up the winding entrance to the ranch, you come upon some of the most spectacular scenery in North Texas. Rolling hills, horse meadows, sandy beaches next to the lake, or walking beside the creek on the nature trails are just a few things to do to relax and enjoy your stay.

Home Away from Home
5300 sq ft rustic home with 3 stories. 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and each floor is completely private. Stay for a night while you’re shopping North Texas for a new horse or come for a couple of weeks while you’re at the horse show down in Fort Worth. A 1 hour drive north from Dallas/Fort Worth is an easy commute for whatever you are in town for.

In an elegant ranch setting, gather by the stone fireplace or have a drink at the bar. For more of an outside experience, spend your time on the patio by the pool or sit by the outdoor fireplace. The western themed rooms are decorated with luxurious bedding and décor that will make your stay feel right at home. In the evening, walk down by the lake and sit by the fire pit and enjoy visiting with your friends and family. Treat La Cantera as your home away of being at home.

The horse facility offers 12×12 stalls, or stalls with runs, and single horse turnouts with sheds, two arenas; the first one being a slide track 150x 250 with sand. The arena sits on a hilltop and drains well, you can always ride! The cutting pen is 100×100 square pen, complete with a mechanical cow.

Horse Show Folks – In town for extended stays during horse shows. We are 1 hour from John Justin Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Make your reservations with us. Keep your horses in the barn and make yourself at home at the house or at the ranch mobile home, which is completely updated.

Wine Tasting
Book a wine tasting for your next party or event. Make it a themed wines tasting or just call it Wine 101, we can accommodate your next tasting event with some education on wine and some fun trivial facts. You can also choose Hors o devours to go with your wine selection.

Sunset Rendezvous
Watch the horses and the cows go by as night falls. Relax at a table set with fresh flowers, cheese and crackers, chocolates, and chilled champagne. A perfect way to celebrate a special occasion — or any occasion. We do the work, you enjoy the evening with your partner!

Stargazing
Join us under the stars as you see natures best shows; the universe’s lights. Stargazing is phenomenal at the Ranch, as we are away from the city lights and the whole night sky is visible.
Find a comfy chair or grab a blanket and spend a peaceful evening enjoying the view. A knowledgeable naturalist will guide you and your family across the Texas night sky. Learn about the stars and constellations and how they can guide you on your journey.
For your stargazing pleasure, we have for your use a unique viewfinder from Hammacher Schlemmer that will guide you through the night sky. Simply point and click and ‘My Sky’, with its built in GPS, will instantly identify what you are seeing. My Sky holds a database of over 30,000 celestial objects including stars, double and variable stars, planets, constellations, galaxies, and nebulas. These celestial objects are arranged by catalogs:
The Solar System – Planets, the Moon, Comets and Asteroids

Nature Walks & Jogging
Walk down thru the meadow or along the walking trials to learn about the different plant species, butterflies and birds.. You never know what you may see. Enjoy the different gardens: Butterflies, hummingbirds, ferns, roses, etc. See if you can name all the varieties of plants we enjoy growing! Enjoy nature at its best!

Swimming
Take a dip in the pool to cool off or relax in the Jacuzzi with all the jets massaging your back. Either choice, will leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to enjoy the day.

Volleyball
Have fun on the sand volleyball court then enjoy a dip in the pool to cool off!

Fishing
With two different lakes to choose from, you are sure to catch your dinner in the La Cantera Lake. Also Lake Ray Roberts is 1 mile away and we can “setup” a fishing guide for you to fish all day and come back to the ranch for some Texas BBQ or steaks. Transportation can be arranged.

Country Western Dance Lessons
Learn how to 2 step from a dance instructor. Whether it’s the Texas 2 Step or a slow waltz, learn how to dance the Texas way!

Scavenger Hunts
Western Style – Hunt for the old west items, boots, spurs and cowboy hats from the cowboys of long ago. You never know what you may find back in the woods Enjoy you scavenger hunt and make it great family fun or a team building exercise for you corporate event. Guaranteed to be exciting. You can choose to do this on Golf Carts as well.

Ranch Activities
Horse Camp
Take lessons from our staff trainer. Whether you really want to learn about horses or learn to show, talk to Ross Barnette. He will take you from A-Z on horsemanship. Enjoy riding thru the trails or for the more serious horseman, take a few reining horse lessons. Kids are welcome and we will start with general health care of the horse and the daily care it takes to own a horse.

Trail Rides
Just coming out for a ride, there are ample scenic trails to enjoy on the ranch. You may even see some deer! Ride the trails with your family and friends. We provide the horses and an experienced guide. Pricing depends on length of ride.

Cattle Drives
Ride the open range like the old time cowboys and cowgirls. Your time will begin with a short riding lesson on a good ranch horse. We will practice with the cattle before we head out. Then with your help we will move the herd. For ages 13 and up and experienced riders.
Reservations are required. Minimums apply.

Scavenger Hunt – Choose any theme.
Western Style –
You don’t know what the ol’ cowboys of the old west may have lost back then. Boots, spurs, hats, chaps, you never know what you may find. Get together with your team and find all the lost items for a day full of fun! . Guaranteed to be exciting. You can choose to do this on Golf Carts as well.
